US actress and producer Dakota Johnson will open the 21st Zurich Film Festival (ZFF) on September 25, 2025, bringing her latest relationship comedy “Splitsville” to the gala premiere. The 35-year-old will also be honored with the Golden Eye Award for her performance in the film and her outstanding career.
Johnson, known for her versatility as a character actress, will present insights into her work during ZFF Masters, giving audiences a rare glimpse behind the scenes of her career. At the opening gala, she will appear alongside director, actor, and producer Michael Angelo Covino, who co-created “Splitsville” with her.
In “Splitsville”, Johnson stars as Julie, a woman caught in the absurd twists of modern relationships. Johnson not only leads the cast but also produced the film, showcasing her creative range both in front of and behind the camera.
Christian Jungen, director of the Zurich Film Festival, praised Johnson: “Dakota Johnson is one of the most fascinating actresses in modern cinema. She brings her characters to life with honesty and subtle expressiveness, and her uncompromising choice of roles impresses both audiences and critics. Her visit is a great honor and a wonderful gift for the Zurich public.”
